The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), together with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) and with the assistance of the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine, announced a new stage of accepting applications through the State Agrarian Register (SAR) to support small agricultural producers in the Kherson region.
The initiative is being implemented with financial support from the Community Restoration Fund of Ukraine and is aimed at restoring agricultural lands and resuming farming activities damaged as a result of the war.
Applications are open to farmers from the Borozenska, Kalinovska, Velykoaleksandrovska and Vysokopolska communities, whose lands have been damaged by fighting since February 2022, as well as by drought. Agricultural producers cultivating from 3 to 300 hectares of land can apply, provided that the plots are located at a safe distance from the front line.
Applicants must be registered with the State Autonomous Region, provide cadastral numbers of the plots in need of demining or restoration, and also fill out a needs assessment form. Selection will be based on criteria such as the amount of uncultivated land due to hostilities, changes in the number of workers since February 2022, the level of pollution and damage from explosive ordnance, the importance of soils, the impact of drought on crop yields, crop losses and crop area. drip irrigation and other materials to restart production. They will also be provided with agronomic support and assistance in applying for the state program of compensation for humanitarian demining.
