Palestinians continue to flee Rafah amid Israeli military operations. 810 thousand people have already left Rafah Humanitarian assistance
Amid ongoing Israeli military operations, at least 810,000 people have fled Rafah in just two weeks, UN humanitarian agencies said on Monday. People are abandoning their belongings and fleeing for safety, but as the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Affairs (UNRWA) notes, there are no safe places in the Gaza Strip.
At least 35,300 Gazans have been killed and more than 79,260 wounded in Israeli shelling since the Hamas attack on October 7, according to the enclave’s health authorities.
Due to the escalation of fighting in eastern Rafah, the delivery of aid into the sector through the Rafah and Kerem Shalom crossings has almost completely ceased, UNRWA said. On Sunday, no UN humanitarian aid arrived in the enclave, and on Saturday only 27 truckloads of aid entered Kerem Shalom.
The UN World Food Program (WFP) says , which uses the West Erez checkpoint in the north of the enclave to transport goods and is trying to deliver enough food “to stop the famine.”
At the same time, the head of WFP in Palestine, Matthew Hollingworth, emphasizes that aid workers need additional entry points to deliver aid.
“Every new entry point is a new artery pumping the lifeblood into Gaza, so we will tirelessly work to try to find new entry points and consistently deliver aid in large volumes,” he said.
