The UN Secretary-General strongly condemned the large-scale attack by Russian military forces using missiles and drones on Kyiv and other cities of Ukraine.

The spokesman said the UN chief is deeply concerned about the ongoing escalation of the conflict, including strikes that affect the territory of the Russian Federation. He stressed that attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure are a direct violation of international humanitarian law, no matter where they occur, and must stop immediately.

The Secretary-General, according to Dujarric, reiterated his call for urgent de-escalation, which must lead to a complete, immediate and unconditional ceasefire, as well as a just, sustainable and comprehensive peace in accordance with international law, the UN Charter and relevant United Nations resolutions.

The press secretary recalled that the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs is currently in Kyiv. Tom Fletcher said on Thursday he was shocked by what he saw – the consequences of “another deadly night for civilians, with homes, hospitals and a school under attack.” help.

While in Kyiv, Fletcher held meetings with senior Ukrainian officials, including Foreign Minister Andrei Sibiga, to whom he expressed condolences over the attacks.
