New evacuation orders in Gaza have led to the “largest population displacement since October.” UN humanitarian agencies are therefore warning of the need to reduce food aid rations in the enclave.
The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) reported that in addition to rising needs, many distribution points have been forced to close and only a few bakeries remain open.
Food Aid
In July, WFP provided food assistance to more than 600,000 Gazans and provided food parcels and wheat flour to 500,000 people. So far this month, WFP’s efforts have helped more than 1,000 trucks deliver at least 7,600 metric tons of food and non-food items to Gaza. Residents of the enclave received food packages and wheat flour, but in smaller quantities than usual. In some areas, only flour was provided to those in need.
The WFP said that as of July 14, 11 of the 18 bakeries supported by the UN program were open: seven in Deir al-Balah, two in Gaza City and two in northern Gaza. For their operation, further delivery of fuel is necessary.

“Basic goods are available in markets in southern and central Gaza, but they are too expensive for many people , and a lack of commercial supplies means food is being sold at astronomical prices,” the WFP warned. southern parts of the enclave and Gaza City to distribute hot meals to nearly 185,000 people. “Today, three more children were killed in an airstrike while they were reportedly played in front of their house in the south of Lebanon, is terrifying,” reads a publication by the Lebanese UNICEF office on Platform X. “Children must be protected in accordance with international humanitarian law,” UNICEF emphasized.
