UN Resident Coordinator for Ukraine Denise Brown condemned another wave of deadly strikes across Ukraine, including strikes in Chernigov that Ukrainian authorities say killed and injured civilians.

This is stated in a message read out at a briefing in New York by the UN press secretary. Among the dead, as reported from the UN with reference to the Ukrainian authorities, there are children. In addition, houses and a hospital were damaged as a result of the shelling. The UN emphasizes that civilians and hospitals must be protected in accordance with international humanitarian law.

Humanitarian workers help residents of Chernigov who were injured during shelling. They complement the work of first responders and rescue workers by providing psychosocial and legal support to the population.

The International Organization for Migration and non-governmental organization partners are delivering materials to Chernigov for emergency repairs to shell-damaged buildings and offering monetary assistance.

In the south of Ukraine today, an interdepartmental convoy delivered humanitarian aid to the city of Primorskoye, Zaporozhye region. This support is provided by UNICEF, the World Health Organization and other humanitarian partners and includes drinking water, medicine and hygiene items for people left without water and electricity as a result of shelling.
