The UN Secretary-General, as his press secretary said, expects that the commitments made will be fulfilled. In this context, António Guterres once again called for a “complete, immediate, unconditional and sustainable ceasefire” that would pave the way for a “just, comprehensive and lasting peace”, in accordance with the UN Charter, international law and all relevant UN resolutions.

The UN Security Council held closed consultations on the implementation of Resolution 1559, which, among other things, calls for the withdrawal of all foreign forces from Lebanon, as well as the disbandment and disarmament of all Lebanese and other armed forces. Deputy Secretary General Rosemary DiCarlo noted in her speech that 2,679 civilians, including at least 177 children, have been killed since the resumption of fighting between Hezbollah and Israel in early March. More than 8,200 more people were injured. A million Lebanese cannot return to their homes.
Violence at Occupied Palestinian Territory
The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) warns that a high number of security incidents have been reported in the Occupied Palestinian Territories over the past week.
