At the moment, four candidates are officially vying for the post of Secretary General: former President of Chile Michelle Bachelet, who served as UN High Commissioner for Human Rights from 2018 to 2022, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi from Argentina, head of the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Rebeca Greenspan from Costa Rica and former President Senegal Macky Sall.
