Shelling in the South

OCHA and other humanitarian aid workers continue to provide aid to people in the south of the country, in areas that have been subjected to a series of attacks in recent days. “Yesterday, as a result of overnight shelling in the Odessa region, four people were killed, including a 16-year-old girl, and 10 civilians were injured,” UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said at a briefing in New York. “Authorities also reported damage to residential buildings.”

According to him, humanitarian workers are providing victims with materials for emergency repairs to their homes. The Ukrainian Red Cross staff, together with Ukrainian rescuers, provide first aid on the ground.

Aid to residents of frontline areas

The UN humanitarian partners continue to deliver aid to frontline settlements in southern Ukraine. Today, an interagency convoy reached the town of Kutsurub in the Nikolaev region, which is under constant shelling. The convoy delivered 11 tons of food, hygiene products and mattresses. This week, this is already the third interagency convoy with cargo to support frontline communities. The previous two delivered aid to the Kharkiv and Kherson regions.
