Sana’a, Yemen Yemen: WHO chief at Sana’a airport unharmed in attack Peace and Security
The World Health Organization (WHO) delegation that was at the airport in Yemen’s capital Sana’a during an Israeli airstrike was not harmed in the attack, the WHO chief wrote on his Facebook page.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), was in Yemen to negotiate the release of UN staff held by the Houthis for months, as well as to assess the country’s health system and the humanitarian situation in general.
According to the WHO chief, after completing the mission, he and his team were preparing to leave the country when the airport came under attack. It is reported that two people who were at the airport at the time of the shelling were killed, and a crew member of the plane on which the WHO delegation was supposed to fly was wounded.
