UN Resident Coordinator in Ukraine Matthias Schmale strongly condemned another strike on Kharkiv.
“Yesterday evening, a multi-story residential building was damaged in an attack by Russian armed forces in Kharkiv,” the UN Resident Coordinator said in a statement. “Dozens of casualties have been reported, including the death of two children, despite the efforts of rescuers.”
Schmale recalled that the day before he briefed United Nations Member States on the critical situation in Ukraine and called on them to support humanitarian organizations providing assistance to people suffering from the consequences of ongoing attacks. According to him, in the last 24 hours alone, dozens of civilians have been killed and wounded in the Kharkiv, Kherson, Donetsk, Sumy and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
“International humanitarian law is clear that civilians and civilian infrastructure are protected,” the statement said. “This senseless violence must end.”
