The Football Championship of Hope lasted four days. Football Championship of Hope ends in Gaza Peace and Security
The Football Championship of Hope has ended in the Gaza Strip. The tournament was organized by the Palestinian Football Association for amputees. Its purpose is to support victims and confirm their right to participate in official sporting events.
“We are participating in this championship to restore hope to the people after two years of war against our people,” said Ali Abu Armana, project coordinator. “We were supposed to be in Jakarta at this time, representing Palestine in the West Asia qualifiers ahead of the 2026 World Cup in Costa Rica, but border closures and fighting have robbed us of that opportunity.” Tournament organizers are committed to helping thousands of war victims since a truce was declared in October. “We remain committed to football and the cause of Gaza’s renaissance,” the national team player said. Abdullah Abu Mukhaimer. “Today new names will appear, because as a result of the last war in Gaza, almost 60 thousand were left without limbs. We will continue and hope that the authorities will pay attention to football.” Farah Youssef, who lost her leg, shared her experience: “I strive to play sports to regain some of my previous physical abilities and revive pre-war memories. My message is simple: don’t give up, keep going! Despite the injury and amputation, continue!” According to the tournament organizers, the “Championship of Hope” is intended to become a symbol of perseverance and the desire for life, as well as a sign that sport remains a powerful tool for restoration and unification even in conditions of war.
