UN Humanitarian Coordinator Matthias Schmale condemned the attack on a car in Konstantinovka, Donetsk region of Ukraine, which was involved in the evacuation of civilians.
According to Shmale, the vehicle, owned by the humanitarian organization Proliska, had appropriate markings.
The vehicle was used to help people fleeing the war-torn city, where there has been no water or electricity for several days. The car was hit by a drone. No one in the vehicle was reportedly injured.
“Civilians and civilian objects are fully protected by international humanitarian law and are not targets,” Schmale said.
He expressed solidarity with all humanitarian organizations helping civilians evacuate.
