A building destroyed by an airstrike in Kyiv. Ukraine: Strikes on Kyiv, Krivoy Rog and Zaporizhia Peace and Security
Last weekend, civilians, including children, were injured as a result of strikes on Kyiv, Krivoy Rog and Zaporizhia, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) staff in Ukraine reported on Monday.
The shelling disrupted essential services and damaged civilian infrastructure. According to local authorities, dozens of people were killed and injured in the frontline areas of Donetsk, Kharkiv and Sumy regions.
In Kyiv, Kryvyi Rih and Zaporizhia, UN humanitarian workers distributed building materials to cover broken windows and provided psychological and legal support to the victims.
The Humanitarian Coordinator for Ukraine, Matthias Schmale, has allocated $70 million from the UN Humanitarian Fund for Ukraine to support the Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan until 2025. The funds will be used to help newly displaced persons, provide essential services in frontline areas, and strengthen local NGOs that support the rights of women, people with disabilities, and marginalized communities.
Late last week, two interagency convoys delivered humanitarian aid to frontline areas, including Pokrov in Dnipropetrovsk region and the suburbs of Kherson. The supplies included food, medicine, hygiene kits, blankets, and solar lamps.
