In the frontline areas of eastern Ukraine, significant damage was caused to residential buildings, as well as medical and educational institutions, there are casualties among civilians, including children. The cities of Pokrovsk, Mirnograd and Toretsk in Donetsk region were particularly hard hit.
This was reported by representatives of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), based in the country, citing local authorities.
Due to the deteriorating security situation, local authorities have announced the mandatory evacuation of children in six cities and villages in Donetsk region. Humanitarian organizations, particularly in western Ukraine, are providing evacuees with temporary housing, basic material and psychosocial support.
During the first half of this year, humanitarian workers provided critical humanitarian aid to approximately 440,000 residents of the Donetsk region.
