UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed deep concern on Monday about the ongoing violence and loss of life in Haiti. According to reports, at least 184 people, including 127 elderly men and women, were killed by an armed gang in the Ouarf-Jérémie area of Cité Soleil between December 6 and 8.

Antonio Guterres expresses his condolences to the families of the victims and expresses solidarity with the people of Haiti at this tragic time. He urges the Haitian authorities to conduct a full investigation into this and other human rights violations and to hold those responsible accountable.
The UN Secretary-General, as noted in the document, reiterates his call on Member States to provide financial and logistical support to the Multinational Security Mission so that it can effectively assist the Haitian National Police in combating gang violence.
In addition, Guterres stresses the importance of accelerating progress during the transition period and calls on all stakeholders in Haiti to take constructive action.
