UN Secretary-General António Guterres condemns in the strongest terms Sunday’s terrorist attacks on Jewish and Christian religious sites and security forces in the Russian Federation’s Republic of Dagestan, which reportedly killed at least at least 20 people and dozens were injured.
This is stated in a statement made by his press secretary on behalf of the UN head. “The Secretary General expresses condolences to the families of the victims, the people and the Government of the Russian Federation and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured,” the document says.
According to press reports, the day before In Derbent, unknown persons attacked the Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Kele-Numaz synagogue. The rector of the church died. As a result of the attack, a strong fire started in the synagogue, which was extinguished only at night.
