Destruction in southern Lebanon. Lebanon: UN fund allocates over $30 million to aid conflict-affected communities Humanitarian aid
Humanitarian Coordinator for Lebanon Imran Riza announced the release of more than $30 million from the Lebanese Humanitarian Fund to help those affected by the recent conflict and support displaced persons.
He stressed that at the height of the crisis, the Lebanese Humanitarian Fund and other UN pooled funds were among the first to quickly provide emergency assistance. Additional funding will ensure timely and effective support to people forced to flee their homes and those returning to devastated areas.
The crisis has not only caused significant human losses, but also damaged infrastructure, disrupted health, water and sanitation systems, and increased humanitarian needs.
The $30.7 million allocated will enable partners, including local non-governmental and community-based organizations, to provide targeted assistance in areas such as shelter, food support, health, protection, water and sanitation, and education. Particular attention will be paid to strengthening local responses aimed at supporting the most vulnerable groups.
