Today, reports were received that as a result of the latest fighting in the Donetsk and Sumy regions of Ukraine, about 30 civilians were killed and wounded, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said at a briefing in New York.
“Houses, shops, agricultural facilities, as well as gas and electricity infrastructure, were reportedly damaged,” he said.
The Ukrainian government said it had begun the mandatory evacuation of children and their caregivers from 40 towns and villages in the Donetsk region, Dujarric said.
Aid to the Kherson region
Meanwhile, the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said a three-truck humanitarian convoy delivered aid to the small town of Beryslav in the Kherson region yesterday.
About 1,000 people are still living there. 2,000 people, including more than 70 children and 90 people with limited mobility. The rest of the residents were evacuated. The city’s infrastructure is seriously damaged, there is no electricity, gas or water.
As noted by the OCHA, this is already the ninth convoy to deliver humanitarian aid to the frontline areas of Kherson this year.
Humanitarian workers brought a portable power station, hygiene items, bed linen, blankets and warm clothing to Berislav.
